Child and adolescent evaluations offer diagnostic clarification, identification of individual strengths and weaknesses, development of educational accommodations, and recommendations for targeted treatment and educational services.
NCS offers the following pediatric assessments
Neuropsychological Assessment
A child and adolescent neuropsychological assessment entails a comprehensive process that involves a series of standardized measures aimed at examining intelligence (IQ), academic mastery of reading, writing and math, and neurocognitive domains such as memory, attention, language, problem-solving, and executive functions. A child’s personality developmental, behavioral and social functioning, and mood state will also be evaluated.
- Clinical interview with parents/guardian (1-1.5 hours)
- 2-3 days of testing (8-12 hours)
- Feedback session (1-1.5 hours)
- Written report with recommendations
Psychoeducational/Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE)
Psychoeducational evaluations are specialized assessments conducted to identify and understand a student’s learning profile, including cognitive abilities and academic skills.
At NCS, a psychoeducational evaluation involves review of educational history, a school observation, and administration of standardized neurocognitive tests designed to measure intelligence (IQ) and academic performance.
Parents may also want to pursue an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) through their school district. To learn more about the IEE process, please click here.
