Neuropsychological Assessment

A child and adolescent neuropsychological assessment entails a comprehensive process that involves a series of standardized measures aimed at examining intelligence (IQ), academic mastery of reading, writing and math, and neurocognitive domains such as memory, attention, language, problem-solving, and executive functions. A child’s personality developmental, behavioral and social functioning, and mood state will also be evaluated.

  • Intelligence (IQ): Assess cognitive potential, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Academic Skills: Mastery of reading, writing, and math to detect gaps or strengths.
  • Neurocognitive Functions: Memory, attention, language, visuospatial abilities, and executive functions.
  • Behavioral & Emotional Development: Mood states, social functioning, and personality traits.
Our pediatric neuropsychological evaluations include:

  • Clinical interview with parents/guardian (1-1.5 hours)
  • 2-3 days of testing (6-10 hours)
  • Feedback session (1-1.5 hours)
  • Written report with recommendations

Psychoeducational Evaluation

Psychoeducational evaluations are specialized assessments conducted to identify and understand a student’s learning profile, including cognitive abilities and academic skills.

At NCS, a psychoeducational evaluation involves a review of educational history, a school observation, and the administration of standardized neurocognitive tests designed to measure intelligence (IQ) and academic performance.

ADHD Evaluation & Executive Functioning Screener

An ADHD and Executive Functioning evaluation is a targeted assessment designed to identify challenges in attention, organization, planning, and behavioral regulation—key areas often disrupted in students with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or related executive functioning deficits.  This evaluation focuses on:
  • Attention: Assessing concentration, distractibility, and sustained focus.
  • Executive Functions : Evaluation of planning, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Behavioral Regulation: Examining impulse control and emotional adaptability.

Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE)

Parents may also want to pursue an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) through their school district. To learn more about the IEE process, please click here.

Academic Screener

An academic screener offers a focused look at your child’s intellectual and academic abilities. Our pediatric neuropsychologist uses this tool to identify emerging difficulties in:
  • Reading: Detecting signs of dyslexia or reading comprehension issues.
  • Writing: Spotting dysgraphia, spelling, or written expression challenges.
  • Mathematics: Pinpointing dyscalculia or calculation struggles.
